Inquiries & Answers
Archive FAQ
Do you accept physical donations to the archive?
Yes, on a highly selective basis. We are primarily a digital exhibition, but we do acquire historically significant hardware for preservation and high-resolution cataloging. Please use the Submission Tool on the Contact page before shipping any items.
Do you offer appraisals for vintage technology?
The Curator does not provide financial appraisals. Our focus is strictly on the mechanical, aesthetic, and historical value of the objects, not their current market price on auction sites.
Can I use the images from the archive?
All macro photography and structural imagery is strictly copyrighted by the Rover Coconut Shuffle Archival Trust Ltd. Non-commercial, educational use is permitted provided clear attribution and a link to the specific exhibit page is included.
Why is there no focus on processing power or specs?
Processing power is ephemeral; a supercomputer from 1985 is outperformed by today's thermostats. We focus on what endures: industrial design, the tactile interface, and the physical engineering required to manifest digital concepts in the analog world.
Do you restore non-working items?
Our philosophy leans toward conservation rather than restoration. We stabilize hardware to prevent further decay, but we often leave the patina, yellowed plastic, and wear marks intact as they tell the story of the machine's usage over decades.
